India Arise
How do we Indians react or respond to national problems? Do we act in a way that everyone is benefited or do we react in a way that only our own interests are taken care of?
I have often seen that except for national calamities like floods or earthquake (when we unite and rise as one Nation), we think of our own comfort and benefit only. Let me explain with an example: Whenever there is a shortage of LPG cylinders, we tend to hoard two or more cylinders, so that our families don't have to face the inconvenience of waiting for the refill when the cylinder is over. When everyone does the same, an artificial scarcity is created. There may be enough number of filled cylinders in the households, but, since most of the people have two or more cylinders in their homes, they are not available in the market.
Luckily shortage of LPG cylinders is a thing of the past. What we Indians are facing now is an ever increasing cost of petrol We all know that India doesn't have enough crude of its own t meet its demand. India has to buy petroleum products from abroad to meet its demands. These products are purchased at the prices prevailing in the international markets by paying in US dollars. When the prices of petroleum products increase in the international market, we have to shell out more dollars to buy petrol. It has two effects: the prices of petrol go up, and at the same time, since our demand for the dollars is more, the price of dollar also goes up vs a vis Indian rupee.
So what should we do as Nationalist true Indians? Should we start hoarding dollars? That may benefit us as individuals if dollars becomes more costly, but will harm our nation by creating panic like situation. If we really want to help our country, we can postpone the purchase of goods and services, that can wait, or are not really necessary, so that our country doesn't have to shell out dollars.
And what about petrol prices? If we were a nation of patriotic people like the Japanese, we would have parked our vehicles, and start going to office on bicycles.
We would have resorted to pooling and formed groups for going to offices together.
We would have shifted to install solar operated systems to reduce our dependence on oil, and start using Sun power, which is available in plenty in our tropical land.
Let's respond to national problems in a positive way that will benefit our beloved Nation, and not react with short sighted solutions that may benefit us only.

ReplyDeleteImpressive! Good job and thanks for sharing such a good blog...
ReplyDeleteAmazing write-up !! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteVery well written sir but don’t you think these problems arise at a very basic ground level ?
ReplyDeletePrimarily two factors which can help India arise are :
1. Belief system
2. Sense of responsibility .
A nation cannot be changed unless there is a change in attitude of people . We are grown up in an environment where living a luxurious life is more important than helping a needy .
Gandhi said “ Be the change you wish to see in the world “ .
No matter how much we discuss , unless there is a sense of responsibility and compassion among individuals, it’s very difficult to change the nation .
